WRFN Family Pulse - November 2018

November already!

In this issue of Family Pulse we decided to focus on how to talk about your child's diagnosis. Only you know your specific circumstances and the people in your circle, and only you can know what’s best to share and what’s best to keep private.
That having been said, it can be very helpful for family and friends to understand your child’s needs and then are able to better support you and your child.

You will also find information about:

  • WRFN Workshop: Creative Solutions and Supports for In Risk Students
  • Understanding High School for Students on the Autism Spectrum
  • Ask A Self-Advocate
  • One in Nine workshop
  • Coffee Club
  • Community events.

WRFN Family Pulse - September 2018

Just like, that the summer is over! Once again, here we are transitioning back into the school year. In this edition of Family Pulse we thought it would be useful to share a quick list of tricks and tools to use during the transition.

Back to school is a very busy time, during which parents need to remember to look after themselves. The reality is, transition time is a difficult time for parents. Getting to know and deal with new situations isn't just difficult for children, it's difficult for caregivers too. We hope you’ll find our tips useful for your own self-care during the upcoming transition time.

Don’t forget to check out What’s Happening at WRFN and Upcoming Community Events—there’s lots going on!

WRFN's Family Pulse - July 2018

Welcome to July!

With the summer upon us we thought it would be a good idea to focus this issue of Family Pulse on the benefits of outdoor pay. While getting outside can come with a set of logistical problems, the benefits for everyone are well worth the effort! As always, there is also lots of opportunities and programs to check out at WRFN and within our community!

WRFN Family Pulse - June 2018

We recently heard from a parent who suggested we repeat the article on stress from a past Family Pulse issue. She recently re-read it and found it very helpful. In this article we address how serious chronic stress can be, talk about some common stressors, and finally list some of the easiest and most effective ways of dealing with it. We hope you find the article helpful as well!

As always the community events section is filled with new opportunities so make sure to take the time to look through it!
