Course Description
We will begin these workshops by exploring the Adverse Childhood Experiences study, using sexual- and gender-based violence as exampled of trauma. We will delve into the impacts of trauma on neurobiology, and discuss how science helps us understand symptoms of trauma in new ways. We will then look at trauma- and violence-informed care as a universal precaution that helps us to meet the needs of patients and clients more effectively. Using the newest research in resiliency, we will demonstrate specific client or patient skills building that can be nurtured through a trauma- and violence-informed practice. We will end the workshop series with practical information about local resources and referrals.
These workshops have been divided into two parts in order to enhance participant discussion, engagement, and reflection. All attendees will receive Certificates of Completion for participating in both parts.
