From time to time, the Waterloo Region Family Network (WRFN) is asked to distribute information on behalf of third parties. WRFN provides general information to self-advocates and families of children with special needs. The information provided on this website is not a recommendation, referral or endorsement of any resource, therapeutic method, or service provider. WRFN is not responsible for any information or services provided by third parties. You are urged to use independent judgment when considering any resource.
The event will feature a presentation by Ms. Kai Cheng Thom, who will speak on queer and trans inclusion in non-profit spaces. She will discuss how the YMCA can engage in non-performative solidarity with 2SLGBTQIA+ people, particularly within the context of neoliberalism, present on her children’s book, From the Stars in the Sky to the Fish in the Sea, as an example of how to introduce conversations on gender and identity within our early learning and childcare learning materials, and introduce her free Conflict Resolution Workbook, So You’re Ready to Choose Love, as a resource for organizations/individuals responding to homophobia and transphobia.
