About WRFN

History

The Waterloo Region Family Network (WRFN) is a home-grown network created in 2009 by parents, for parents, of children with special needs.

The original goal was to offer parents an easy way to connect with others who were traveling similar journeys with their own children – people who truly understood their challenges and were able to provide empathy and support through a friendly ear, a helping hand, and guidance when needed.

Since then, we’ve grown to support whole families – parents, caregivers, guardians, individuals with special needs of all ages, siblings and grandparents – those who make up our network and fill our programs and events.

We provide connections to valuable resources and supports available in our community allowing each family to make decisions that are best for their family.
