Multi Sensory Room Pilot Project

As their award-winning Summer Reading Club program continues in August, Idea Exchange is thrilled to announce a new service at their Clemens Mill location, a Multi-Sensory Room for book reporting.

“A Multi-Sensory Room blends sights, sounds, textures, and motion to calm and stimulate the senses,” explained Andrea Siemens, Manager, Youth Services. “Our room is a relaxing space that helps reduce agitation and anxiety. The Multi-Sensory Room is for everyone looking for a grounding space.”

“We are very excited to offer this additional resource to families in our community who may have differing needs,” said Chrissy Hodgins, CEO, Idea Exchange. “We hope this space will make everyone feel welcome at Idea Exchange.”

Elements provided as part of the space include; a bubble tube, fibre optic lights, reflective materials, and soft seating. Time spent in a Multi-Sensory Room can increase concentration, improve motor skills, creativity, social relations, and communication.

The Multi-Sensory Room will be available for drop-in reporting at Idea Exchange, Clemens Mill, 50 Saginaw Parkway, Cambridge, between 10:00 am and 5:30 pm on weekdays. After 5:30 pm, Mondays through Thursdays and all-day Saturdays, members can reserve the space with their membership card for one 60-minute session. Reservations can be made by calling Clemens Mill in advance at 519-740-6294. This is a pilot project for Idea Exchange and at this time will only be available through the month of August.
