Plexus- FASD Support

PLEXUS NEWS!!

PLEXUS has been busy this fall. With the launch of the Adolescent Support Group, Support Group for Birth Mothers Caring for their Children with FASD and training with our local school boards, we have extended our reach even further.

Karen and Michelle were able to attend the CanFASD Research Conference in Saskatoon, SK this November. And guess what? IT'S COMING TO TORONTO IN 2025, so mark your calendars.

At the conference, Karen was excited to present along side Siann Gault, former student at WLU, and share her research on “The system is not set up for individuals with FASD”: Perspectives Regarding Current and Ideal Housing Supports for Canadian Adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

During Siann's time at Laurier she conducted a scoping review of Promising Practices for Transitioning to Adulthood for Individuals with FASD. Members of PLEXUS contributed to this work and are named as co-authors.

Transitions into adulthood for people with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder: A scoping review of promising practice

Our relationship with Melody Morton Ninomiya, Canada Research Chair, Assistant Professor, Department of Health Sciences, has been very successful. Melody's work includes increasing the profile of community-driven knowledge mobilization and expanding networks of community research partners and collaborators. PLEXUS has been excited to work on many projects with the Melody and the students in her program.
