We're pleased to partner with Kitchener Public Library to welcome author and journalist James Chaarani to discuss his latest novel, Between the Head and the Hands, on March 6th!

 

Between the Head and the Hands is the candid story of a young man abandoned by his family and religion and left searching for identity in an unfamiliar world. The book was named one of Apple Books "Best debuts of 2023".

Drag-ify! with Sasha Tease and Manny Manilla is a monthly workshop series at Spectrum that explores the basic skills of drag, focusing most on makeup, costuming, and wig styling. The program is open to 2SLGTQIA+ adults aged 18+ who have an interest in drag!

 

Our next Drag-ify workshop will take place on March 12th at 6:30pm!

BRIQ House* is Spectrum's monthly group for Black, Indigenous, and other Racialized Queer folks in Waterloo Region!

 

Come meet for for discussions and community building. We connect both in-person at Spectrum and virtually on Zoom.

 

*NOTE: This name is not yet finalized. We’ll be voting on it at our next meeting: March 23rd at 5pm.

Volunteers Needed!

 

We are looking for volunteers to help us run our transgender and transmasc peer support groups!

 

We're also looking for volunteers to help with our board games night, day5games!

 

Finally, we'd like to start a new group for bi and pan folks and we are looking for volunteers to help with it!

Rainbow Family Drop-In

 

How Does Learning Happen? Through Play! Join other 2SLGBTQIA+ children (aged 0-6), caring adults and families in play and exploration together! EarlyON Educators and a Spectrum Registered Early Childhood Educator are available to provide support and information around early learning topics, community resources, programs, and referrals in a play-based environment.

 

Join us on the third Thursday of each month at 3:30pm at EarlyON | Roger Street.

Grand River Transit invites local artists, graphic designers, and illustrators to submit their qualifications to design an original full-color digital image to be applied on a GRT bus, posters, interior bus cards, decals, and a window mural at 105 King St. E., Kitchener, in recognition of Pride Month for June 2024.

 

The selected artist will be paid $3,000 plus HST for their completed design.

 

Deadline to apply is Sunday, March 17, 2024, 11:59 p.m.

Queer Run Club

 

Check out the new Queer Run Club! This is a 2SLGBTQIA+ running club that meets every Sunday. We run for approximately 45 minutes and break up into different paced groups (from hiking to running). The terrain is considered moderate in the winter, so please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the conditions. Dogs are welcome on leash.
