Family Literacy Day is a national awareness initiative created by ABC Life Literacy and held annually on January 27th to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. Even just 15 minutes a day can improve a child’s literacy skills dramatically, and can help a parent improve their skills as well.
Family Literacy Day here in Waterloo Region will once again by celebrated online.
Beginning January 22nd running through to January 29th, organizations that support the concept of inter-generational literacy will offer opportunities to explore and enjoy literacy. Play, Talk, Read, Sing and Write from the comfort of home! Tune in daily or at a time that is convenient.
This week long event begins with a kick off concert Saturday January 22nd 11am by Erick Traplin hosted on the Kitchener Public Library’s Facebook page: https://tinyurl.com/4bah2jht
